Protest by a group of MKO terrorist group defectors and families of members trapped in this organization to the Prime Minister and members of the Albanian Parliament

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism - A group of MEK defectors and families of members trapped in this organization called on the Prime Minister and members of the Albanian Parliament to turn off their green light to terrorists living in this country forever and immediately.

According to Faraq, in a letter, a copy of which was provided to Faraq, these individuals considered the continuation of MKO terrorist group activities on Albanian soil to be a violation of international law and the principles of combating terrorism, and stated that the continuation of irresponsible behavior by the Albanian government in dealing with the MEK organization will soon endanger the national security of this country.

The full text of the letter is as follows:

Hon. Mr. Edi Rama, Honorable Prime Minister of Albania

State leaders and members of the Albanian Parliament

The courageous action of the Albanian police in June 2023, by entering the headquarters known as “Ashraf 3” in the city of Manz, promised a serious determination to confront the illegal activities of the terrorist organization, the MKO terrorist group. The seizure of the organization’s espionage and anti-security equipment seemed an initial but promising step. However, the silence and inaction of the Albanian government in the months following this operation not only dimmed these hopes, but also raised serious questions about the country’s policies towards a terrorist group.

Numerous international reports from defected members of the MKO terrorist grouphave revealed the appalling conditions of the organization’s camp in Manz. These individuals have spoken of widespread human rights violations, members’ deprivation of contact with their families, severe psychological pressure, and the transformation of the camp into a center for cyber operations and propaganda against countries in the region. Camp Ashraf 3, contrary to the Albanian authorities’ claims that it is a refuge for refugees, has become a base for terrorist activities, money laundering, human trafficking, and cyber espionage. The Meta report also confirms that thousands of fake accounts are being directed from Albanian soil to spread false information and psychological operations against Iran.

Green Light to Terrorism: A Danger for Albania

The continuation of the activities of the People’s Mojahedin (MEK) on Albanian soil is not only a violation of international law and the principles of combating terrorism, but also endangers Albania’s national security. Your government’s silence on these crimes has reinforced the suspicion that Albania may have become, consciously or unconsciously, a base for soft war and sabotage against the nations of the region. This double standard has undermined the political legitimacy of the Albanian government in the eyes of international public opinion and exposed the country to accusations of supporting terrorism.

The need for immediate action to expel the People’s Mujahedin (MKO terrorist group)

Fighting terrorism is a global task that no country can shirk. Now that Iran has been invaded by your friend, the Zionist regime (Israel), and the MEK is also participating in this crime in the martyrdom of many innocent women and children in Iran, the Albanian government must take decisive action to expel the MEK organization from the country and close Camp Ashraf 3. Failure to take serious action in this regard will not only turn Albania into a hotbed for terrorist activities, but will also have serious political, security, and even economic consequences for the country.

A call for transparency and accountability

The Albanian government is obligated to gain the trust of the Iranian nation and the international community by clarifying the legal status of the members of Camp Ashraf 3, the nature of the MKO terrorist group activities, and its level of awareness of their crimes. Now is the time for Albania to adopt a decisive policy, to absolve itself of the accusation of collusion with a terrorist group and to take steps towards combating terrorism. History has shown that appeasement with terrorism brings no results except insecurity and instability.
