Europe’s Complicity with Israeli State Terrorism and Humanitarian Gesture for the Media

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism – Mizan News Agency has examined Europe’s dual behavior towards Israel’s crimes in the world in a report.

In this report, we read that the European Union’s failure to take effective action to stop the Zionist regime’s attack on the Gaza Strip is a clear violation of its international legal obligations, in particular its duty to prevent and punish genocide.

This inaction enables ongoing crimes against Palestinians, effectively grants the Zionist regime impunity, and effectively rewards its actions.

Such a failure deprives the European Union of any legal or moral credibility in its alleged commitment to justice and human rights, while undermining the principles of accountability and the foundations of the international system.

At the recent meeting of the European Council of Foreign Affairs, 27 EU foreign ministers agreed to closely monitor the Zionist regime’s compliance with the recent agreement to improve humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip; This is while they postponed the discussion of the 10 proposed options for responding to the Israeli regime’s actions in the besieged area.

This stance demonstrates a clear lack of political will to exert meaningful pressure and highlights the continued complicity of many EU member states; they are in effect giving the Israeli regime a green light to continue targeting civilians and destroying their means of survival.

The EU’s repeated calls. The EU’s apparent call to improve the humanitarian situation in the area is a clear attempt to whitewash the Israeli occupation, especially in the absence of any concrete or credible steps to fully reopen the crossings or ensure the adequate and safe flow of aid.

This approach represents more than mere passivity; it represents active complicity in the creation of an engineered famine and also reflects the bloody role of the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, whose aid distribution centers have become sites of mass slaughter.

“At a time when entire families are being destroyed, dozens of children are being killed every day and a full-scale genocide is being committed against a defenseless population, the EU’s narrow focus on sending food aid to Gaza is a clear betrayal of humanity and a failure to fulfill its legal and moral responsibility to stop one of the greatest crimes of our time and ensure accountability for its perpetrators,” said Lima Boustami, Legal Director of Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor.

“Reducing this horror to a temporary humanitarian crisis or a logistical issue related to counting trucks and crossing points exposes the hollowness of European rhetoric about values, dignity and human rights,” Boustami continued. “This reveals the EU’s true position, not merely passively but actively fueling the machine of killing and destruction.”

“Gaza is not facing a food crisis, but a deliberate project of starvation, eradication and eradication,” she explained. What is needed now is not simply an improvement in human conditions, but a principled political stance that defends the remaining legitimacy of the international system, prioritizes human life over political expediency, and is willing to pay a price that is insignificant compared to the commitment to protect entire populations from genocide. European governments, despite internal assessments and public statements recognizing serious violations of international humanitarian law, including actions that may amount to genocide, continue to provide political and legal cover for the violations of the Zionist regime through action and inaction.

The EU has conducted three formal reviews over the past year assessing Israel’s compliance with the human rights clause in Article 2 of the EU-Israel Association Agreement. All three cases revealed strong indications of a breach of contractual obligations by Israel.

However, none of the main EU institutions, including the European Commission, the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament, have activated any of the remedial measures provided for in the Agreement, such as invoking Article 79 to take appropriate measures in response to violations, or initiating the dispute settlement procedures provided for in Articles 75 and 76.

The continued implementation of the EU-Israel Association Agreement and granting preferential treatment to the regime in trade, research, culture and education, while it commits serious and documented crimes, violates European legal frameworks and provides political legitimacy and material support that enable the Israeli regime to continue its actions against Palestinian civilians without accountability.

This pattern of relations, characterized by a lack of legal consequences alongside ongoing political and economic cooperation, deliberately undermines the legal obligations of European states under international law, including the Genocide Convention, the Geneva Conventions, the Arms Trade Treaty, the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, customary international law, and the Treaty on European Union.

The EU’s complicity in double standards deepens as some European governments continue to issue formal statements condemning the “disproportionate attacks” of the Israeli regime while at the same time providing it with weapons, military technology, and intelligence support. These are not diplomatic actions, but propaganda displays that actively enable further Israeli crimes.

This approach reinforces the policy of impunity and shields those responsible for serious crimes from accountability.

Europe’s continued silence is not due to negligence, but a deliberate political decision that demonstrates direct complicity. By prioritizing interests and alliances over international law, these countries become active accomplices in ongoing crimes, including genocide.

The European Union has effective measures at its disposal to pressure the Zionist regime, including a comprehensive arms embargo, the suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement, sanctions on responsible officials and institutions, a ban on settlement products, and the withdrawal of Schengen visa privileges. The EU’s failure to implement these measures demonstrates a lack of political will, legal integrity, and moral courage.
