A freedman’s story of confronting the hypocrites

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism - According to ISNA, Saeed Hedayati is one of the freedmen of the "Tikrit 5" camp who was captured during the extra time of the imposed war. This freedman's account of how he was captured is a symbol of the sacrifice and perseverance of the fighters during the Holy Defense era. Hedayati endured several tortures at the moment of captivity, but did not mention his other comrades, lest the Hypocrites capture them.

Hedayati at the Payam Azadegan Cultural and Artistic Institute in Tehran recounts: “At first, we didn’t know what Operation Mersad was. Later, they told us over the wireless: You are keeping the Iraqis busy here. We were at Tedeen Hill, and Iraq Hill was Lahori Hill and Kalhaqandi. The Iraqis were supposed to play with us to some extent, and then the MKO TERRORIST GROUP would come. The Iraqis would prepare fire, pounding every inch, even in the foxholes. When heavy fire started, a mortar fragment hit me in the head and one of my comrades was also wounded in the hand and lost his left hand, but to boost his morale, I told him: Don’t worry, your hand is here.

There was a big river in Qasr-e-Shirin, and the water was so strong that it could even carry away a jeep. I jumped into the water and, by grabbing onto the roots of the trees, was able to save about 17 of the children from the water.

“The MKO TERRORIST GROUP forces helipaded and attacked us from behind and captured us. One of their forces, who was watching me with a camera, realized that I was the commander, came and kicked me in the mouth and broke my teeth. He lifted me up and threatened me with a weapon to tell me the location of the forces, but I remained silent. Then they tied ropes to my legs and the children’s and dragged us along the ground in a car.”
