Prevent the destruction of lasting peace in the region by condemning Israel.
Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism defends the rights of victims of terrorism in various sessions of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, in person and by submitting written and oral statements.

During the 60th session of this council, which was held in Geneva from September 8 to October 8, 2025, four oral statements were read by the representatives of the association.
The following text is the oral statement of the association in item 3 of the interactive discussion – Right to Development Reporter entitled “The assassination of scientists and the destruction of infrastructure are an obstacle to the Iranian people’s access to their right to development.”
Mr. President,
On June 13, 2025, Israel launched a 12-day war against Iran in violation of Article 2 (4) of the Charter of the United Nations.
During the war, nearly 1,000 innocent people were killed, including women and children, as well as 14 nuclear scientists who had dedicated their lives to scientific research to ensure Iran’s right to development. In addition, the country’s infrastructure, including nuclear facilities, refineries, airports, and other public facilities, were deliberately targeted, causing extensive damage and disrupting services to citizens.
Assassinating scientists and destroying the infrastructure of any country is a major obstacle to improving the living conditions of its people and may set back economic, social, cultural, and political development for years.
Israel’s war against Iran was continuation of violation of all norms of international law in Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, and Syria, which, according to a statement by independent UN experts, form part of a broader pattern of unlawful unilateral acts by Israel, which are considered international crimes punished under the Rome Statute.
Therefore, we call on the Special Rapporteur on the Right to Development, to condemn the assassination of Iranian scientists and attacks on infrastructure by Israel and to investigate aspects of the war in his next report, using all the capacities of the Human Rights Council mechanisms. Furthermore, member states must take the necessary measures to stop Israel’s wars so that sustainable peace and security in the region is not destroyed further.
