Come This Way: A Young Adult Novel About the Assassinations of the Sixties

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism - The author of the book "Come This Way" said: This novel, written for teenagers, is about the assassinations of the 1960s.

 

 

In an exclusive interview with a reporter from the Iranian Broadcasting Corporation, Somayeh Jamali added: “The book “Come This Way” tells the story of the assassinations in Tehran in the 1960s and the atmosphere at the beginning of the revolution.”

She said: “The story takes place in the Abu Dhar neighborhood (formerly Falah) and centers on two teenagers named Sudabeh and Salman, linking the teenage experiences of that era with the concerns of today’s generation.”

Jamali added: “This teenage novel, while depicting the bitter events of the 1960s and the assassinations of the MKO TERRORIST GROUP in the alleys and neighborhoods of Tehran, attempts to create a realistic atmosphere of the early days of the revolution for the teenage audience. The story is narrated in the Abuzar neighborhood, which was one of the main sites of the events of that era, and the lives of two teenagers are focused on in the heart of this heated atmosphere.”

 

She continued: “By creating lively characters close to the world of teenagers, this work has been able to link the concerns, curiosities, and mischief of teenagers with the historical conditions of that era, creating a tangible and attractive experience for the audience.” Referring to the purpose of writing the book “Come This Way,” the author said: “It is to introduce the crimes of the MKO TERRORIST GROUP and the enemies of Iran in those years and to show its impact on the lives of ordinary people and teenagers.”

 

Jamali added: “These events are a bitter but true part of our country’s history that tries to familiarize today’s generation with the lessons of that era. This teenage novel, in addition to its historical and educational value, provides an opportunity for teenage audiences to become familiar with the complex world of the early days of the revolution and gain a deeper understanding of the social and political conditions of that era.”

The book “Come This Way,” published by 27 Besat Publishing, has recently been unveiled.

“Flag Waving”, “The Woman Went to Be a Scarecrow”, and “Lip Khat” are among Somayeh Jamali’s other works.
