The war against Lebanon must be stopped immediately

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism - Ettie Higgins, the deputy representative of UNICEF in Lebanon, investigated the effects of war on Lebanese children in a report.

Ettie Higgins said in a press conference at the UN mission in Geneva, I am talking to you today from Lebanon to examine the situation of children in this country in the shadow of the current dangerous situation. Conditions that have had an adverse effect on the physical and mental well-being of these children.

On Monday alone, at least 35 children were killed in Lebanon. This number is more than the number of children killed in the last 11 months (22 people).

she continued, more than the number of people killed in the last eleven months occurred in just one day. 35 children were among the 492 killed in Lebanon in one day.

In another part of her speech, Ettie Higgins said that according to the information provided by the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health, more than 1,645 people were injured on Monday, including children and women.

UNICEF’s deputy representative in Lebanon continued, “As I speak, more children are in danger.” At risk of ongoing attacks, they are displaced from their homes and unable to rely on a health system that suffers from a lack of resources. If we go back to previous conflicts, like the 2006 war, my fear is that the current conflict has worse effects on children.

she continued, any kind of increase in tension has destructive effects on children in Lebanon. Especially families from villages and cities in southern regions, in eastern Lebanon, have been forced to leave their homes. This recent conflict has led to the displacement of 112,000 people since October last year. schools across the country are currently closed, leaving children at home in fear. Their parents are also scared. Yesterday (Monday, October 2) was the worst day in Lebanon in the last 18 years. This violence must stop immediately. Otherwise, the results will be unbearable.
