UNIFIL: The Israeli army destroyed a watch tower and the wall of our base

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism - United Nations Peacekeeping Forces in South Lebanon (UNIFIL) announced that the Zionist Army destroyed a watch tower and the wall of one of these forces' bases.

 

According to the report, the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces in South Lebanon (UNIFIL) issued a statement and announced that the Zionist regime’s army has deliberately destroyed an observation tower and a wall in one of the bases of these forces in South Lebanon.

According to the report of Al Jazeera news channel, UNIFEL also emphasized that despite the pressures applied on UNIFEL and the countries participating in it, its forces are still deployed in all their positions.

It is stated in this statement that a bulldozer belonging to the Zionist regime’s army deliberately destroyed a watch tower and the wall surrounding the base of these forces in “Maruhin” located in the south of Lebanon.

With the continuation of the attacks and crimes of the Zionist regime in Lebanon, which has endangered the mission of the UN peacekeepers, UNIFIL spokesperson Andrea Tennetti said earlier that the presence of these forces in southern Lebanon is very important and will continue because international intervention, support It is necessary from the people of the south and to provide the services that UNIFIL used to provide. UNIFIL forces will protect civilians and implement resolutions in accordance with international laws.

In a situation where Tel Aviv insists on the need for peacekeepers to leave southern Lebanon and targets them, he stated in an interview with Al-Jadid channel: “We now need the Security Council to act to impose the idea that peace must be maintained. Efforts should be directed towards finding clear and lasting solutions to the current situation. “Consultations about what happened are underway, and action should be taken instead of words.”

UNIFIL consists of 10,000 peacekeepers from more than 50 countries, including Indonesia, India and Ireland. Last Wednesday, the 16 EU countries that contribute troops to the UN peacekeeping mission called for a review of the rules of engagement in Lebanon, saying they should be more effective in light of recent attacks.

According to the announcement of the Lebanese Ministry of Health, at least 2,367 people have been martyred and 11,109 people have been injured in the attacks of the Zionist regime on Lebanon since October 8, 2023. Also, this regime’s attacks on UNIFIL forces have left dozens of wounded.

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, more than 100 aid workers have died and more than 220 people have been injured in the Zionist airstrikes since October 8. These attacks also destroyed 128 ambulances and fire trucks and damaged at least 10 hospitals and 45 medical centers.
