Iraqi National Security Agency Statistics on Combating Terrorism in 2024

The Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism - The Iraqi National Security Agency announced that it provided more than 6,000 cases of preventive information related to terrorist groups to the Joint Operations Command and arrested more than 5,600 terrorists in 2024.

 

According to Middle East News, Arshad Al-Hakim, the spokesman for the Iraqi intelligence agency, announced: The terrorism case is one of the most important cases that the Iraqi National Security Agency is working on and good results have been achieved in this regard.

According to the official Iraqi news agency, referring to the activities of the Special Committee for Combating Terrorism in coordination with the Baghdad Security Department and the departments of various provinces, he stated: In 2024, more than 6,000 cases of preventive information were provided about the enemy’s presence, hideouts, warehouses, equipment and weapons, which was provided to the Joint Operations Command with high coordination, and effective airstrikes were also carried out.

The security official noted that the number of detainees last year reached 5,606 people accused of terrorist acts, and a large number of weapons and explosive belts were seized.

The spokesman for the Iraqi Security Intelligence Service said: Last year, 3 or 4 special and unique operations were also carried out, in the first of which, Muhammad Abdul Malik Taha, one of the most dangerous terrorists in the region, was killed in the Daquq area while carrying an explosive belt.

He clarified that the second operation was carried out by killing Khamis Sharif Shihan, known as Abu Ibrahim al-Iraqi, one of the most dangerous leaders of the terrorist group, and a large amount of bombs were neutralized in Salah al-Din province. In the last unique operation, a person known as the governor of Iraq was arrested after 6 months of continuous intelligence work, which was also praised by the Iraqi Prime Minister.
