Hague Court Prosecutor: Israel has not yet made a serious investigation into war crimes against Gaza

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism- The Hague Court Prosecutor announced that the Zionist regime has made no serious effort to investigate war crimes committed against Gaza and that this court is the last resort for achieving justice.

According to ISNA, Karim Khan, the prosecutor of the Hague Court, defended the court’s decision to arrest Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Israeli Minister of War Yoav Gallant in an interview with the Reuters news agency in The Hague.

In November 2023, the Hague Court issued an arrest warrant for these two Israeli officials on charges of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity. This ruling led to various reactions, including a resolution by the US House of Representatives to impose sanctions on this international court.

According to the Palestine Information Center, Khan said after this American resolution: “This is a rejected and regrettable action. It should be noted that this court does not belong to prosecutors or judges, but to 125 countries.

Khan continued the interview by emphasizing that the Israeli regime still has time for an independent investigation into these allegations, because according to the court’s supplementary principles, states can investigate internal war crimes before they enter the Hague court, but so far no serious action has been seen from the occupying regime to investigate these allegations.

Khan added: “We are here as a last resort and as we speak, we have not seen any real attempt by Israel to take action that is in accordance with established judicial practice, which is to investigate similar suspects for the same behavior.”

Stating that the Israeli investigation could lead to the case being returned to Israeli courts based on the so-called supplementary principles, he noted: “Israel can still show its willingness to investigate, even after the arrest warrant has been issued.”

Khan added that the evidence showed that Israeli authorities have systematically deprived Palestinians of the basics of life and that Netanyahu and Gallant are complicit in causing civilian suffering and starvation in Gaza.
