Strengthening cooperation between Iran and Iraq on human rights and counter-terrorism issues

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism- The Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad, in consultation with the Minister of Justice and the National Security Advisor of Iraq, discussed strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the fields of human rights and counter-terrorism.

 

 

 

According to Mizan News Agency, Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadegh, the Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad, met with the Minister of Justice and the National Security Advisor of the Iraqi government and discussed issues of interest to both parties.

In order to pursue bilateral cooperation in the field of the Ministry of Justice and to convey the invitation of the Minister of Justice of the Islamic Republic of Iran to his Iraqi counterpart to pay an official visit to our country, Al-Sadegh, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, met with Khalid Shawani, the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Iraq.

During this meeting, the issue of the status of prisoners and the need to expedite the exchange of prisoners based on the existing agreement in this regard, as well as areas of joint cooperation, including the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of human rights between the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Iraq and the Human Rights Headquarters of the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and other issues of interest to the parties were discussed and exchanged.

Al-Sadegh also met and exchanged views with Qassem Al-Araji, National Security Advisor to the Iraqi Government, in order to consult on bilateral cooperation in the field of combating terrorism and strengthen areas of joint cooperation in order to enhance the level of relations and transfer experiences in this field, as well as discuss the implementation of the bilateral security agreement.

The parties emphasized recent developments and current regional conditions and the need to continue joint cooperation in the field of combating terrorism, and such exchanges will continue.
