High Commissioner for Human Rights Rejects Plans to Forcefully Displace People in Gaza

Association Defending Victims of Terrorism - The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, expressing deep concern about the current developments in the occupied territories, completely rejected the plans put forward for the forced displacement of people in Gaza and stressed that the issue of human rights violations against the Palestinian people is a permanent agenda item of the Human Rights Council.

 

 

 

Seyed Abbas Araqchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, met and consulted with Volker Türk, High Commissioner for Human Rights, on the sidelines of the High-Level Meeting of the Conference on Disarmament and the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.

In this meeting, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, referring to the high status of human rights and human dignity in the governance system of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Constitution of our country, noted: The Islamic Republic of Iran will spare no effort in this regard.

Araqchi also noted the interactions between Iran and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and announced our country’s readiness to continue these interactions.

Criticizing the dual and selective actions of some Western parties on the issue of human rights, he considered the inaction and complicity of the United States and some other Western countries towards the systematic and gross violations of human rights and humanitarian rights in occupied Palestine a source of shame for the international community, adding: These dual approaches have completely discredited the human rights slogans of these countries and have emboldened the Zionist regime in committing serious international crimes.

In this meeting, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, referring to his report at the beginning of the high-level meeting of the Human Rights Council, also expressed concern about the intensification of some global trends that threaten the foundations and standards of human rights, and emphasized the importance of all governments adhering to international legal obligations in the field of human rights.

Volker Turk, expressing deep concern about the current developments in the occupied territories, completely rejected the plans put forward to forcibly relocate the people of Gaza and emphasized that the issue of human rights violations against the Palestinian people is among the permanent agendas of the Human Rights Council, and that the High Commissioner for Human Rights has clearly condemned the human rights violations against the Palestinian people and is steadfast in this regard.
