ISIS underground groups have awakened in Syria

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism - The first ISIS terrorist operation in Syria after the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad regime has sounded the alarm about the worsening security situation in the country.

Rai al-Youm newspaper wrote about the first ISIS attack against the Golani government after the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime: ISIS terrorist organization used the phrase “the apostate Syrian regime” when claiming responsibility for the operation in Sweida province. This means that Golani’s elements are being openly targeted and he cannot stop this process because the central power in Damascus is weak and weapons are available throughout Syria.

It seems that ISIS underground groups have awakened in Syria; the ISIS-affiliated weekly al-Naba condemned Golani’s recent meeting with Trump and believes that changing the appearance of the terrorist Golani and meeting with Trump makes it necessary to fight the Damascus regime.

Noureddine al-Baba, spokesman for the Golani regime’s Ministry of Interior, also admitted that ISIS activities have intensified after the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria. Clashes between ISIS and Kurdish elements of the Syrian Democratic Forces, which control eastern and northeastern Syria, have also intensified.

This operation does not appear to be the last ISIS operation in Syria, but rather a warning sign of the worsening security situation in the country. On Thursday, ISIS claimed responsibility for its first attack on elements affiliated with Abu Muhammad al-Julani. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that this was the first attack on al-Julani’s forces, and that a soldier from the army’s 70th Brigade was killed and three others were wounded.
