International Criminal Court: US sanctions are a clear attack on the independence of an impartial institution

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism - International Criminal Court called the US sanctions against two judges of this institution a clear attack on its judicial independence and strongly condemned it.

According to IRNA, the International Criminal Court announced in a statement published on the institution’s website that it condemns the new sanctions imposed by the US government against Judge Gocha Lordkipanidze and Judge Erdenebalsuren Damdin.

This is despite the fact that the United States had previously sanctioned nine judges and prosecutors of this institution.

The International Criminal Court added: “These sanctions are a clear attack on the independence of an impartial judicial institution.”

The Court stated: “Such actions, which target judges and prosecutors elected by the Court’s member states, undermine the rule of law.”

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently announced that two judges of the International Criminal Court have been sanctioned for “direct interference” in what he called “illegal targeting of Israel.”

The International Criminal Court in The Hague issued an arrest warrant on December 1, 2014, for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Minister of War Yoav Gallant on charges of committing war crimes, crimes against humanity, and using hunger (starving the people of Gaza) as a weapon.

This is while South Africa filed a complaint against the Zionist regime in the International Court of Justice in December 2023, stating that the regime had violated the Convention against Genocide against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
