Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism – Stefan van Baarle, head of the parliamentary bloc of the “DENK” party: When it comes to the war in Ukraine, we see that Western countries and the Netherlands make very harsh statements and talk about war crimes.
Stefan van Baarle, head of the parliamentary bloc of the Denk party in the Netherlands, said that Israel is committing war crimes and that his country and Western countries remain silent about it.
This came in an interview with Anatolia, about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the West’s position in this regard.
Van Baarle, a member of the Dutch Parliament, said, “Israel applies the apartheid system and has escaped accountability for everything it did for 75 years due to the silence of Western countries.”
Van Baarle pointed to cutting off electricity, water and food for two million Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.
He added: “The situation in Gaza is very horrific. Bombs are falling on hospitals there, and Israel is actually committing a war crime now.”
He continued: “The Western world and the international community are not doing anything about it. This must be put to an end, and the Netherlands must condemn this situation.”
He said: “When it comes to the war in Ukraine, we see that Western countries and the Netherlands make very harsh statements and talk about war crimes. When it comes to the fate of Palestinians or Muslims, we see that the Netherlands and the Western world remain silent and practice blatant discrimination. We must fight against that.”
He stressed that defending the rights of Palestinians has become more important than ever before and called for defending those rights.
“When people want to defend the rights of Palestinians, right-wing political parties try to silence them,” Van Baarle said. “This is a policy that has always been followed in the Western world.”
