Shafaqna wrote from the Guardian: Almost nine out of every 10 Israeli military investigations into allegations of war crimes or abuse by its soldiers since the start of the war in Gaza have been abandoned without finding a culprit or without a conclusion.
The Action Against Armed Violence (AOAV) group said: Unsolved investigations include the killing of at least 112 Palestinians in a flour line in Gaza City in February 2024 and an air strike that killed 45 people in a tent camp in Rafah in May 2024.
The investigation into the killing of 31 Palestinians who went to a food distribution point in Rafah on June 1 has also been closed without any specific conclusions.
The report explicitly accuses Israel of creating a “pattern of impunity” by failing to conclude or find any fault in the vast majority of cases involving “the most serious or public allegations of violations by its forces.” This is despite Israel claiming to have two mechanisms for recording and pursuing crimes: the Military Prosecutor’s Office and fact-finding assessments.
The international watchdog found reports in English-language media of 52 cases in which the Israeli military said it had conducted or would conduct investigations following allegations of harm to civilians or crimes by its forces in Gaza or the West Bank between October 2023 and the end of June 2025. These cases involve the deaths of 1,303 Palestinians and the injury of 1,880. However, only two soldiers were sentenced to very short prison terms.
It is worth noting that Israel has killed more than 60,000 people in this strip since the start of the Gaza war and reduced 90% of it to a pile of dust.
