ADVTNGO – Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism published a letter about ICJ order to Rohingya’s state. this full text of the letter:
Genocide as one of the most important crimes against humanity is a concern for international organizations and forums and poses threats against human societies.
Despite being condemned and forbidden in many documents, as The Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (1948), and in customary international law, the crime of genocide is still present in some corners of the world.
The international court of justice, as principal judicial organ of the UN, has had four opportunities to tackle the crime of genocide and has answered by three contentious cases and one advisory opinion.
The last decision by international court of justice about the crime of genocide was about complaint of Croatia against Serbia which ended in 2015.
Latest action of international court of justice in the case of genocide in Myanmar is historical and inspiring. In this case, states from different continent are parties and this shows the globality of human values, sense of philanthropy and basics of human rights.
This order is a turning point in international law and can be a base to prevent any violations of human rights in international community, and especially rights of muslims in Myanmar, and also to prosecute perpetrators of war crimes against civilians.
Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism sees this action a positive step to ending the “limbo of non-punishment” for war crimes perpetrators and violators of human rights and as a way of acquiring justice for victims, and wants from all the justice seekers around the world to emphasis on this order and want for more mobility in international organizations, especially UN, for implementing contents of this order, completely.
Hope that with these actions, the international society outs from inaction and passivity toward crimes against humanity and the perpetrators became responsive for their actions and repetition of these crimes come to end.
