Unfair Interpretation of the Situation of the Human Rights

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism – Mostafa Alaei, international human rights expert in a letter to Ms. Michelle Bachelet, UN High Commissioner for the Human Rights reviewed unfairness of the reports of the situation of human rights in Iran.

The international human rights expert stated in a part of his letter, “The resolution on the situation of the human rights in the I.R. Iran is as old as the Islamic revolution in Iran. Roots of the resolution began in 1980 mostly focused on the situation of the Kurds, Baha’is and later it was established in the structure of the UN Commission on Human Rights and once it was not adopted in the Commission on Human Rights.”

“The resolution that is submitted twice to the General Assembly and Human Rights Council is a part of the policies and international relations and the ultimate complexity of relations in the current surrounding. For example, the vote of the states which are the symbol and international portrayal of grave and systematic violation of the most basic human rights like right to self-determination vote for the resolution and states including Brazil, Mexico, South Africa and India abstain or vote against it”, he added

In another part of the letter it is said, “undeniable evidence indicates that the resolution on the situation of the human rights in the I.R. Iran is always framed in the Iran phobia project and changing the issue of I.R. Iran to a security concern in the region and world.”

The researcher also continued to criticize the report on the situation of the human rights in Iran and pointed out the new concept of extraterritorial violation of human rights and said economic and drug sanctions and supporting terrorism against Iranian nation are among the important items which have been overlooked in reviewing the situation of human rights in Iran and so such resolutions are basically unfair and unconstructive.

The diplomat wrote in another part of his review on the report on the situation of human rights in Iran said the initiators of the resolution of the situation of human rights in Iran are among the intensifiers of violation of human rights and often are violators of human rights of Iranian nationals inside and outside Iran. He continued to say that human rights have become more of an artificial issue than a real issue for human society to enjoy, so that it can recommend orders and prohibitions in line with the needs of world powers to oppressed nations and any resistance to the oppression of these powers will be responded by the force of the same powers.

The human rights expert finally called on Ms. Michelle Bachelet, UN High Commissioner for the Human Rights, Javid Rehman, Special Rapporteur of the situation of human rights in Iran and other experts of law and international politics to review the reports on the situation of human rights in Iran critically so that based on the outcomes, sustainable measures can be taken to make progress in the goals of human rights.

In addition to Ms. Michelle Bachelet, UN High Commissioner for the Human Rights and Javid Rehman, Special Rapporteur of the situation of human rights in Iran, the letter was sent to the foreign ministry and Attorney General of Iran.
