Zionist Occupation Minister endorses apartheid

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism – Yariv Levin says the country’s supreme court must ‘understand’ Jewish settlers are ‘not prepared’ to live alongside Arabs in illegal West Bank settlements

Israeli Justice Minister Yariv Levin told cabinet members on 28 May that the country’s supreme court must feature judges who “understand” why Jewish settlers are “not prepared” to live alongside Arabs.

“Arabs buy apartments in Jewish communities in the [occupied West Bank], and this causes Jews to leave these cities because they are not prepared to live with Arabs. We need to ensure that the Supreme Court has justices who understand this,” said Levin, according to Israel’s Kan TV.

His remarks came as part of a discussion on a proposed government resolution to assert “Zionist values” in the far-right government’s policy, effectively giving Jewish settlers “preferential treatment in housing, planning, and construction.”

The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court defines apartheid as a crime against humanity, characterized by the commission of “inhumane acts,” such as unlawful killing, torture, and forcible transfer, which are committed to maintaining an institutionalized regime of systematic oppression and domination by one racial group over another.

Major human rights groups and UN officials have accused Tel Aviv of perpetuating such a system against Palestinians on top of the military occupation of their land and a decades-long campaign of genocide.
