Human Rights Watch: Israel has committed war crimes by forcibly displacing Palestinians
Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism – According to Euronews Farsi, a new report by Human Rights Watch states that Israeli authorities have been carrying out widespread and deliberate forced displacement of Palestinian civilians in Gaza since October 2023, committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Strip.
The 154-page report detailed the devastation caused by Israel’s year-long campaign in the Gaza Strip and stated that more than 90 percent of the territory’s population was displaced as a result of these campaigns.
The agency’s investigators interviewed displaced Palestinians to prepare the report. They also analyzed satellite imagery and assessed evacuation orders and statements by Israeli officials, including Benjamin Netanyahu.
“Senior officials in the Israeli government and the war cabinet have repeatedly announced their intention to forcibly relocate the population from the early days of the war until more than a year later, and government ministers have said that the territory of Gaza must be reduced,” said Nadia Hardman, an investigator at the agency.
The report adds that although Israeli officials claim that these evacuation orders were issued to ensure the safety of Palestinian civilians, the Israeli army has failed to ensure the safe passage and settlement of Palestinians while issuing such orders.
“The Israeli government cannot claim that Palestinians are safe while it kills them on escape routes, bombs so-called safe areas, and cuts off food, water, and health services,” Hardman said.
“This forced displacement is widespread, systematic, and deliberate, and forms part of Israeli government policy and constitutes a crime against humanity.”
In this report, Human Rights Watch has put forward several recommendations, including targeted sanctions against Israel by the international community, a freeze on arms transfers, and an investigation by the International Criminal Court.
Numerous international reports have been published on the dire situation of the people of Gaza and Lebanon due to the brutal attacks of the Zionist regime. However, these reports have not yet led to a practical solution to end the Zionist regime’s aggression. Perhaps these are the first steps in the loss of the legitimacy of the Zionist regime in the international arena and the awakening of nations against the media lies supporting this regime. An awakening that can ensure the rights of the victims of Zionist state terrorism in occupied Palestine.
