Danish Supreme Court confirms conviction of 3 Ahwazi members

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism - Three leaders of the Ahwazi group based in Denmark were convicted of criminal activities, including collecting funding and aiding terrorist organizations in Iran such as "Jaysh al-Zalm" and carrying out terrorist operations in Iran.

The terrorist attack on a military and law enforcement parade in Ahvaz on September 21, 2018, which resulted in the martyrdom and injury of a large number of Iranian civilians, is one of the most important terrorist acts of the Ahwazi group, which the Danish court also mentioned in its ruling.

In February 2013, a court in Denmark found three members of the “Ahwazi” terrorist group guilty of financing and supporting terrorist activities in Iran.

After the verdict was issued in the lower court, the defendants appealed the verdict, but the appeals court on December 19, 2013, upheld the lower court’s rulings and increased the defendants’ sentences.

After the appeals court confirmed the verdict, the defendants’ lawyers appealed to the Danish Supreme Court on false grounds, including “legitimate struggle.” Ultimately, the country’s Supreme Court rejected the defendants’ lawyer’s claim, and after examining all aspects of the case, confirming that the Ahwaziyya group’s activities were terrorist, sentenced three of its leaders to imprisonment and deportation from Denmark for espionage, financing terrorism, and supporting armed groups.

In rejecting the defendants’ lawyers’ claims, the Danish Supreme Court emphasized that “this group has directly attacked civilians and economic facilities and has caused terror and instability in Iran. Therefore, its activities are punishable under Danish anti-terrorism laws.”

According to the verdict, Yahya Kaabi was sentenced to 8 years in prison and deportation from Denmark, his brother Tamim Farqbek to 7 years in prison and deportation from Denmark, and Yaqoob Mohammad, Kaabi’s son-in-law with Danish citizenship, to 6 years in prison and the revocation of his Danish citizenship.

According to the report, the terrorists in question were based in the city of Ringsend, 60 kilometers southwest of Copenhagen, and were directing the group’s terrorist, espionage, and sabotage activities against Iran.

The majority of the activities of this terrorist group have been focused on destructive operations, assassinations, and bombings in the southwestern region of Iran, especially Khuzestan Province, in an attempt to destabilize this province, and ultimately, to encourage its separation from Iran.

Habib Farajollah Chaab (Kaab), nicknamed “Habib Asyoud,” was the leader of the terrorist group Harkat-e-Nidal or Ahwaziyya and the main designer of the terrorist attack on the armed forces parade in 2018. He was arrested in November 2020 and, after going through the legal procedure and holding court sessions, was sentenced to the most severe punishment for the crime of corruption on earth through the formation, management, and leadership of the terrorist group Harkat-e-Nidal, and the planning and execution of numerous terrorist operations in Khuzestan Province.

The presence of terrorists opposed to the security and well-being of the Iranian people in European countries has a long history. The terrorist group of the MKO has been present in France for many years. The central cadre of this terrorist group fled to France after numerous terrorist acts, such as the bombing of the office of the Islamic Republic Party on July 7, 1981, and the bombing of the Prime Minister’s office in September 1981. Massoud Rajavi repeatedly stated in meetings with officials of the Iraqi Baath regime that the French government was aware of the terrorist acts of this group, but had never used the term terrorism against them! Even now, this terrorist group continues its destructive activities against the Iranian nation, using the facilities provided by European governments such as France and Germany.
