Iran and Russia Cooperation in Combating International Terrorism

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism – The Presidents of Iran and Russia emphasized the two countries’ determination to combat terrorism.

 

Based on the Comprehensive Strategic Agreement between Iran and Russia, the two countries emphasized their serious determination to combat terrorism.

The seventh paragraph of this agreement states:

The contracting parties will cooperate bilaterally and multilaterally in the field of combating international terrorism and other challenges and threats, especially extremism, transnational organized crime, human trafficking and hostage-taking, illegal migration, illegal financial flows, legalization of proceeds from crime (money laundering), financing of terrorism and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, smuggling of goods, money, monetary instruments, historical and cultural property, weapons, narcotics, psychotropic substances and their precursors, and exchange of operational information and experiences in the field of border guarding.

This agreement was signed on January 18, 2025 by the Presidents of Iran and Russia.
