The Executive Committee of the so-called Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), announcing that a ceasefire will be declared from today in response to the request of Abdullah Ocalan, the leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, emphasized: Achieving issues such as disarmament is only possible with the practical leadership of the party leader.
The statement of the Executive Committee of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party titled “To our national people and public opinion” states: The call of Chairman Abdullah Ocalan on February 7th, entitled (Call for Peace and a Democratic Society), illuminates the way for all freedom and democratic forces and is considered a manifesto of the era. Since this manifesto has been strengthened among the people and humanity, we salute Leader Apo with all due respect.
The statement emphasized that this call is part of a historical process that began in Kurdistan and the Middle East. It was noted in the statement that this step will have a great impact on the development of democratic leadership and free life throughout the world.
The group emphasized that launching the call in this way is a very important step, but achieving its success is more important, and emphasized: The Kurdistan Workers’ Party is directly committed to this call and will take steps based on its necessities and requirements.
According to the “Rudavu” network, the statement, noting that the leadership structure and the Central Council of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party constitute the organizing force of the struggle, emphasized: This party has carried out a great historical struggle in Kurdistan in the past century and has achieved great achievements with sacrifice, commitment and resistance.
In its statement, the group renewed its pledge to the group’s dead with gratitude and respect, and added: We continue on the path with the same determination and will.
The Kurdistan Workers’ Party stressed: “By taking advantage of the strategic vision of Leader Apo and the historical experience of the party, it enters a new stage of struggle to achieve its goals with a democratic political approach.”
The statement explained that “in response to Ocalan’s call for peace and a democratic society, we declare a ceasefire as of today,” and emphasized that “despite any attacks that may be carried out, the party’s forces will not launch military operations.”
The group added that issues such as disarmament can only be achieved with the practical guidance of Leader Apo.
The group announced its readiness to hold a conference at the request of Leader Ocalan, but the realization of this requires the provision of appropriate conditions.
The PKK emphasized: For this conference to be successful, Leader Apo must be its main guide.
The statement also emphasized that “the successful realization of the call for peace and a democratic society and the guarantee of democratic transformation in Turkey and the Middle East through a democratic solution to the Kurdish issue requires the creation of the necessary conditions to guarantee the physical, intellectual and political freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan.”
The PKK added that all obstacles to Leader Apo’s comrades must be removed so that they can communicate with him without restrictions.
Emphasizing that “the death of Leader Apo is not an end, but a new beginning,” the group added: “As the statement clearly states, there are many things that should have been implemented over the past 35 years, and especially the past 20 years, but were not implemented despite continuous demands.
The group emphasized that “it is now necessary to implement it without delay.”
The statement called on “especially women and youth to play their role in this historical stage,” noting: “With the arrival of Women’s Day on March 8 and the approach of Nowruz, the importance of this call increases.”
In conclusion, the PKK thanked its leader Abdullah Ocalan and stressed its commitment to “continue the struggle until freedom and peace are achieved.”
