US removes Tahrir al-Sham from list of terrorist groups

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism - The US State Department has issued an internal order to remove the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham from the US list of terrorist groups.

According to ISNA, the US State Department has issued an internal order to remove the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham from the US list of terrorist groups.

According to the order seen, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has ordered the department to remove the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham from the US list of terrorist groups.

Rubio’s decision coincides with the efforts of the US President Donald Trump’s administration to normalize relations between the government of Abu Muhammad al-Julani, the self-proclaimed Syrian president and leader of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, and the Zionist regime.

Al-Julani has a history of activity in al-Qaeda and was the commander of the branch of this terrorist group in Syria.

Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai made a clear statement that for Americans, terrorism is any action that harms American interests. The same approach is also seen in the US lists of terrorist groups. The terrorist group, the MKO, is sometimes included in this list, and after it comes under American control and operates for its goals in the region, it is removed from this terrorist list. The removal of Syrian terrorists from the list of terrorist groups targeted by the US is not new and will continue to happen in the future.
