Albania, Israel approve strategic defense agreement; support for MKO terrorism

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism - According to Gazeta Express, the Albanian Council of Ministers has unanimously approved the Framework Agreement with Israel, which aims to strengthen the defense capabilities of our country.

According to the report, the Council of Ministers said that the agreement was signed between the Albanian and Israeli Defense Ministries and is an important step in deepening cooperation in the field of security and defense. The decision aims to increase Albania’s defense capabilities in line with the highest international standards and advance strategic cooperation with one of the main partners in the region.

The agreement will enter into force immediately and paves the way for joint projects and technology exchanges between the two countries, in the interest of national security. In June, Albanian Defense Minister Piero Vango revealed that the government is in talks with six foreign companies to produce military equipment. In an interview with Albanian media, Vango added that the talks are focused on investments in production lines for heavy artillery, light weapons, ammunition, armored vehicles and military uniforms.

The senior Albanian official noted that the government has received expressions of interest from 25 foreign investors, including companies based in the United States and Israel. These partnerships will be formed through the recently established state-owned military equipment manufacturer Kayo. One of them is the Israeli company Elbit Systems Ltd., which signed a memorandum of understanding with Albanian authorities in April this year.

As the Albanian Post has learned, Elbit Systems will assemble drones in Albania, as well as produce light weapons and heavy artillery at the former copper factory in Rubik, which will become one of the main military production centers for the armed forces. Elbit Systems is one of the world’s top defense companies, and Globes-Israel Business News reports that the company is ranked highest among Israeli military companies in Defense News’ 2024 list.

Albanian officials told the Associated Press that they will soon begin pouring concrete to rebuild the aviation school in Vlora.

The agreement, rather than being aimed at defending Albania, paves the way for cooperation in supporting terrorism. Since Albania hosted the terrorist group the MKO, it has become one of the key players in supporting terrorism against Iran, and since it operates under the supervision of the US and the Zionist regime, this support for terrorism should be considered from those countries.
