Iravani: Iran is concerned about ISIS camps
Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism - Iran's representative to the United Nations in New York emphasized our country's concern about the security situation of detention centers and camps that house thousands of ISIS elements and their family members, and said: "Any security vacuum or disruption could have dangerous consequences for Syria and the entire region."

According to Iran Online , Amir Saeed Iravani, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, said in a Security Council meeting on the topic: “The Situation in the Middle East: (Syria)” regarding the situation in Syria, first, despite the important transitional steps that Damascus has taken over the past year, the Syrian people continue to face severe humanitarian, economic, and security difficulties.
He continued, “Recent developments on the ground, particularly in northeastern Syria, are significant. The extension of the interim government’s authority to areas previously under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces, along with a comprehensive integration agreement, is an important step towards reducing tensions, restoring Syria’s territorial integrity, and strengthening state institutions. However, the situation remains fragile. The integration process must proceed in an orderly, peaceful, and inclusive manner. All parties must respect the ceasefire, prioritize protection of civilians, facilitate the voluntary and dignified return of displaced persons, and ensure accountability for violations.”
The Iranian representative to the United Nations stated in another part of his speech that the threat of terrorism remains a serious concern. As stated in the latest report of the Secretary-General, ISIS continues to operate throughout Syria, including through attacks in the north and northeast. We express our particular concern about the security situation in detention centers and camps that house thousands of ISIS members and their family members.
Iravani continued: “Any security vacuum or disruption could have dangerous consequences for Syria and the entire region. The Islamic Republic of Iran also emphasizes the need to return foreign terrorist fighters and their families to their countries of origin within the framework of international obligations.”
