Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism – Spain is hosting a conference on terrorism in October
This event, organized by the United Nations and the Government of Spain, is a continuation of the First World Conference for Victims of Terrorism held in September 2022 in New York (USA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
The aim is to promote global policies to compensate, support and preserve the memory of victims.
The United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), the promoter of the meeting, and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior, as well as the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council, are responsible for preparing the event.
The source said that during October 8 and 9, the European Conference Center will bring together delegations from UN member states, international organizations and institutions, civil society and victims of terrorism in a high-level international conference.
The Basque city was chosen because of the symbolic value of being the headquarters of the Memorial Center for Victims of Terrorism.
