Terrorism and humanitarian crises plague the lives of people in West Africa

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism - Amina Mohammad, Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, considered political and security challenges as obstacles to the flow of peace and economic development in West Asian countries.

 

On the sidelines of the 49th anniversary ceremony of the establishment of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Amina Mohammad emphasized the need to deal with the obstacles to security and stability in West African countries.

He said in this ceremony, during the last decade, this region has seen an unprecedented increase in terrorism, which has set back the development flow in this region. Amina Mohammad continued, this situation along with the illegal changes of governments has led to threats against regional stability.

Amina Mohammad, the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations continued to say that humanitarian needs are increasing and it has created a situation that spreads these threats outside of this region.

Amina Mohammad went on to say that Ecowas, in its 49th year of establishment, reminds us that the road ahead is challenging, but it also shows that it has the potential to solve these problems. This goal requires multilateral and regional responses to the complexities that each country faces.
