The Arab League’s commitment to maintaining the stability of member states and supporting victims of terrorism
Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism - The Arab League, on the anniversary of the signing of the Convention against Terrorism, stressed its commitment to eradicating this phenomenon and establishing stability in member states.

According to Middle East News, the Arab League, while continuing its efforts to combat terrorism and establish stability in the region, is preparing to hold a “joint Arab meeting” in late May 2025 with the aim of evaluating and strengthening the legal frameworks for supporting victims of terrorism.
According to the official Iraqi news agency, the Arab League Secretariat issued a statement announcing: The Arab League commemorates the Arab Day of Awareness of the Sufferings and Pains of Victims of Terrorist Acts on April 22 of each year, which commemorates the date of the signing of the Arab Convention against Terrorism by the Council of Arab Ministers of State and the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice at their joint meeting in 1998.
Mohamed El-Amin Ould Ekic, Deputy Secretary-General of the Arab League for Legal Affairs, referred to the international importance of the issue of victims of terrorism and the holding of a UN conference on this subject, co-chaired by Spain and Iraq, from 8 to 10 October 2024, and stated: “This conference focused on supporting the needs and rights of victims by the international community, Member States and civil society, along with strengthening tolerance and resilience in societies affected by terrorism, and strengthening the vital role of victims and survivors as educators, agents of change and peacemakers.” He stated: “The Arab League is celebrating Arab Day today, as part of the Secretariat-General’s ongoing efforts to promote the rights of victims of terrorism, and in this regard, a joint Arab meeting on the evaluation of legal frameworks and strategies related to the protection and promotion of the rights and needs of victims of terrorism will be held at the headquarters of the Secretariat-General of the Arab League from 26 to 28 May 2025 .
The meeting will be attended by high-ranking officials of the General Secretariat of the Arab Council of Ministers, representatives of member states, officials of joint working bodies and specialized mechanisms for combating terrorism, and international and regional partners of the Arab League.
In conclusion, the Arab League, while renewing its commitment to combating all forms of terrorism and emphasizing the importance of the security and stability of member states, expressed its full solidarity with the victims and their families, and called for turning this day into an opportunity for reflection and action towards building more just and peaceful societies.
