UN: Settler violence has displaced 900 Palestinians

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism – According to IRNA, Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, announced that since the beginning of this year (2026), more than 900 Palestinian citizens in the occupied West Bank have been forced to leave their homes and lands and become displaced due to the escalation of violence by Zionist settlers.

In a press conference, the UN official expressed deep concern about the security situation in the West Bank, emphasizing that pressure, targeted attacks, and the creation of an atmosphere of fear and terror by settlers are the main factors in this new wave of forced displacement.

He added: These figures are from Wednesday, and in just two weeks, from January 20 to Monday of this week, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has recorded more than 50 attacks by Israeli settlers that resulted in casualties, property damage, or both.

Dujarric noted that the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs is conducting initial assessments of the damage and needs following these incidents to inform the humanitarian response, through us and our partners. The UN Secretary-General’s spokesperson stressed the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the continuing loss of life. He added that according to health authorities, “they have reported dozens of deaths and injuries in the past 24 hours, adding that many people still do not have access to emergency teams.” “As a reminder, all parties must comply with their obligations under international humanitarian law to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure,” Dujarric said.

According to IRNA, the UN Human Rights Watch previously announced in a report that the Zionist military intensified its crimes against Palestinians in 2025, including war crimes and ethnic cleansing.

Human Rights Watch reported in its 2026 World Report on its website that Israeli forces escalated their crimes against Palestinians in 2025, including war crimes, crimes against humanity, acts of genocide, and ethnic cleansing. According to the UN human rights report, Israeli forces killed, injured, starved, displaced, and destroyed Palestinian homes and civilian infrastructure on a scale unprecedented in modern history.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, the Israeli aggression in Gaza led to the martyrdom of more than 69,000 Palestinians, including more than 19,000 children.
