According to ISNA , the Iraqi Ministry of Immigration and Refugees announced in a statement the imminent closure of the Al-Hol camp in Syria and the rehabilitation of 21,000 returnees.
Karim al-Nouri, Iraq’s deputy minister of immigration and refugees, told the country’s official news agency (WAA) in this regard: “The al-Hol camp in northeastern Syria is a time bomb that could explode at any moment, but Iraq has successfully defused it and only a few of them remain.”
Al-Nouri stated: “21,000 people have been returned to their original areas, which is a significant number, and no security violations have been recorded in the areas to which they have been returned, which shows our success in their social and psychological rehabilitation.”
The Syrian official further emphasized: “The Al-Hol camp case will soon be completely closed.”
He continued: “The number of Iraqi refugees remaining in Al-Hol camp is approximately 1,200, which is a small number.”
In September 2025, following Iraq’s seriousness and the cooperation of the UN, a major international conference was held at UN headquarters to discuss ways to address the Al-Hol camp problem and encourage countries to repatriate their citizens in order to permanently close the camp.
It seems that the terrorists from Al-Hol camp have been released to cause another sedition in the region.
