Based on OHCR website, in 4 September 2019, Michelle Bachelet, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, in press conference about her first year of duty, urged to global cooperation for solving the global problem.
Bachelet said about the hard situations in her first year of office and her conversation with States and NGOs around the world, and said that speak publicly about human rights violations is a way to curb this bad situation and a support for the rights of who have not any voice around the world.
She told that her fear is that “we are moving further away from global solutions to global problems due to two clear trends that are taking us in opposite directions.”
Michelle Bachelet believed that Human rights violations and states sovereignty are two opposite directions in the world and said: ” The impact of human rights violations in one part of the world can have serious regional and international repercussions on another.” She added: ” We have seen this with large numbers of people fleeing their countries due to armed conflicts, insecurity, political oppression, climate crises and failure to protect economic, social and cultural rights.”
At the end she urged all States to come together to work on these critical human rights issues in a concerted, multilateral fashion.
