
In one of the deadliest attacks on civilians in recent years, gunmen shot and killed at least 24 people in the Palgham area of Indian Kashmir on Tuesday, May 20.
According to IRNA from AFP, gunmen opened fire on a group of tourists in the Palgham tourist area, located about 90 kilometers from Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir, on Tuesday evening, killing at least 24 people. Indian authorities have described the incident as a terrorist attack.
Ismail Baghai, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, strongly condemned the terrorist act in the Indian city of Pahalgam, which resulted in the death and injury of a number of citizens of this country and other countries.
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in New Delhi strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the death and injury of a large number of innocent people.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the attack a heinous act and promised that the perpetrators would be brought to justice. He stressed: “Our resolve to fight terrorism is unwavering and this resolve will be even stronger after this attack.”
A group affiliated with the Pakistani terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba has claimed responsibility for the terrorist act.
