Terrorist bombing in California leaves one dead

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism- FBI said the bomb explosion near a reproductive health center in Palm Springs, California, was a "deliberate and terrorist act."

According to Khabar Online, US news media reported that the explosion, which occurred on Saturday morning, May 17, in a residential neighborhood, killed one person and injured four others and shattered windows in several nearby buildings.

Aqeel Davis, head of the FBI’s Los Angeles office, said the center was targeted, but declined to provide details about a possible motive. The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed, and authorities say no suspects are in custody in connection with the incident and the investigation is ongoing.

According to the clinic’s director, the laboratory and stored embryos were not damaged and no patients were present at the time of the explosion. Aerial images of the scene show a burned-out car in the building’s parking lot, and authorities believe the explosion was caused by a car bomb.

The New York Times reported: Authorities say bomb blast at Palm Springs fertility clinic kills one, wounds four.

The FBI said the Saturday morning blast, which occurred in or near a vehicle less than a mile from downtown Palm Springs, California, was a “deliberate act of terrorism.”

One person was killed and at least four others were injured in the Palm Springs, California, desert area after a bomb exploded Saturday morning outside a fertility clinic. The blast, which authorities are calling a terrorist attack, damaged buildings and shattered windows for several blocks.

“This was a significant explosion. Make no mistake, this is a deliberate act of terrorism,” said Akil Davis, deputy director of the FBI’s Los Angeles field office. He added that authorities believe the clinic was specifically targeted.

Davis said the department has launched one of the largest bombing investigations ever in Southern California, and it is not yet clear whether the incident was an act of domestic or international terrorism. Authorities have identified a suspect, but they did not name him Saturday afternoon. They also did not say whether the deceased was connected to the explosion. Mr. Davis said “we are not actively looking for a suspect.”

The explosion occurred in or near a vehicle parked next to the clinic, according to Mayor Ron DeHart. But many other details, including the make and model of the vehicle, are unclear. Authorities said the only thing left at the scene was an axle.

Reports of a loud explosion and images of shattered glass and thick smoke were posted on social media around 11 a.m. local time. The blast zone stretched for blocks, and some buildings were severely damaged, with shattered glass visible in many restaurants, shops and apartments throughout the city center.

A website for the practice lists fertility treatments, such as in vitro fertilization and egg freezing, among its services and describes its work in helping LGBTQ couples conceive. The clinic reported in a Facebook post that none of its employees were injured in the blast and that the eggs, embryos and other materials in its lab were “completely safe and unharmed.” “We are conducting a thorough safety inspection and have confirmed that our operations and sensitive medical areas were not affected by the blast,” the clinic wrote on its Facebook page, adding that it expects to be open for normal business on Monday.

Homegrown terrorism in America, despite not being reflected in the mainstream media, is a deep-rooted phenomenon, encompassing everything from white supremacist ideas to radical Christianity and even leftist terrorist ideology. This terrorist movement in America has caused many casualties. However, the mainstream American media is trying to tie the concept of terrorism solely to the currents in West Asia. A movement whose main supporters are Western countries such as the United States, and they are trying to create a movement of Islamophobia and opposition to the growing spread of Islam in America and Europe by using the image they create of terrorist acts in the West Asia region.
