The Trump administration’s attempt to declare the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism  - Trump signed an executive order, beginning the process of classifying some branches of the Muslim Brotherhood in Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan as "foreign terrorist organizations."

According to the Young Journalists Club , US President Donald Trump signed an executive order that begins the process of classifying some branches of the Muslim Brotherhood as “foreign terrorist organizations.”

The decree states: “This decree initiates a process whereby certain branches or sub-branches of the Muslim Brotherhood will be designated as foreign terrorist organizations,” specifically referring to the Muslim Brotherhood’s branches in Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan.

Trump’s executive order alleged that these branches “commit, facilitate, or support violence, destabilization, and actions that harm their territories, U.S. citizens, and U.S. interests.”

The executive order directs US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Besant to prepare a comprehensive report on the Muslim Brotherhood’s branches that are considered terrorist, in collaboration with Attorney General Pam Bundy and US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.

According to this order, US departments are required to take the necessary measures within 45 days of receiving this report if there is justification for designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization.

The ultimate goal of this action is to eliminate the power of the branches that are recognized as terrorist, deprive them of resources, and end any threat they pose to American citizens and American national security.

Abu Dhabi and Riyadh are at odds with the Muslim Brotherhood’s political Islamist movement, and the Trump administration’s attempt to declare this cultural and political movement in the West Asian region a terrorist organization is another example of the invalidity of the human rights claims of various governments in the United States.
