Terrorist attack in Dagestan, Russia

Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism - On the morning of Monday, July 4, 1403, the authorities of Dagestan, Russia, announced that a priest and at least 15 policemen were killed in the latest statistics of the armed attack by unknown people in the cities of Makhachkala and Darband.

 

 

Sergei Melkov“, the governor of Dagestan region, said in a video message on Telegram: “Today is a sad day for Dagestan and the whole country.”

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack on a synagogue and a church in the city of Darband and the attack on a police station in Makhachkala.

But Malkov said without giving details: We know who is behind the organization of these terrorist attacks and what is their goal.

Russian state media, citing security officials, said that two of the children of the head of Sargudkala district in central Dagestan were among the attackers, and the head of the district was also arrested.

Malkov stated that several civilians were among the dead, including an Orthodox priest. This priest worked in Darband city for more than 40 years.

According to Malkov, 6 of the attackers were shot dead. But the news media, citing the National Anti-Terrorism Committee, announced this number as five people.

Malekov said that from June 24 to 26 (July 4 to 6), Dagestan will observe public mourning, with flags at half-mast and entertainment events canceled.

The attacks on Sunday, July 3, 1403 in Dagestan took place three months after gunmen attacked a concert hall near Moscow, killing 145 people. ISIS claimed responsibility for this attack.
